1st day: Arrival in Agnone
Arrival in Agnone, accommodation in a charming farmhouse. Relax, dinner and overnight.
2nd day: Civitanova del Sannio / Montagnola Molisana
Breakfast. Meeting with driver/guide and transfer by off-road vehicle to Civitanova del Sannio, meeting with the shepherd and dairy demonstration with tasting. Along rough tracks, we go up by 4WD to discover the Montagnola Molisana. Enchanted panoramas and woods everywhere surround our road up to the refuge where we will stop to consume the "Mappatella" (preparation of local products). Back on the vehicles, we take the steep and narrow descent south of the Montagnola and very quickly we reach Carpinone where a new steep descent awaits us, but this time on foot. We are in the bed of the Carpino river, inside the canyon where he is forced to jump to continue his run towards the Volturno river. Walk in the water with high boots and then return, by Land, to Agnone. Dinner and overnight at the farmhouse.
3rd day: Immersed in beauty!
Breakfast. By Land we leave from Agnone to Monte San Nicola. We move on the eastern ridge of the mountain, at the top of the beautiful valley of the Verrino river. The vehicles leave us halfway up the hill and we cover the last kilometer on foot until reaching the 1517 meters of altitude of the summit. The view is impressive, the view opens on all Molise, Abruzzo and Puglia, we are inside the polygonal walls of a Samnite stronghold.
We descend from the mountain and reach Capracotta and also another Samnite fortress, Monte Cavallerizzo. The landscape changes and our Land too change direction. We head to Vastogirardi and its Samnite temple dedicated to Hercules. Visit of the medieval village.
We move quickly from one Tratturo to another passing through Carovilli and its fortress of Monte Ferrante; visiting the beautiful church of San Giacomo and heading up to Torre Santa Maria on the Tatturo that dominates the castle village of Pescolanciano from above. Tasting lunch in "Mappatella" formula (bundles of bread with various local products: from cow's milk to derivatives, from cured meats to vegetables) and then we leave for our last visit to the Tempio di Pietrabbondante Theater.
Return to Agnone, dinner and overnight.
4th day: Goodbye Molise
