1st day: Arrival in Castel del Giudice
Arrival by own means in Castel Del Giudice, accommodation in Albergo Diffuso, in reserved rooms. Show Cooking on Molisan gastronomy and Cooking Class, dinner and overnight stay.
2nd day: Castel Del Giudice – San Pietro Avellana – Vastogirardi – Castel Del Giudice
Breakfast. Day entirely dedicated to the outdoors with off-road vehicle transfers and visits outside the traditional routes. The first stop is in San Pietro Avellana, “the city of the truffle”, in search of the precious tuber with the help of quarrymen and dogs. Visit to the laboratory for the transformation of truffles and to the Museum of Popular Traditions and Period Costume. We continue for a visit to an artisan dairy laboratory with manipulation tests of the spun dough for caciocavalli in San Pietro Avellana. For lunch there is a Pic-Nic in the Montedimezzo Nature Reserve, in an equipped area, where you will live one of the funniest experiences of your trip. At the end of the meal, we will take you to Vastogirardi for a walk in its medieval village and visit to the Italic temple. Return to Castel del Giudice and relax in the wellness center of the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
3rd day: Castel del Giudice – Agnone – Pietrabbondante – Pescolanciano – Castel del Giudice
History and traditions are the dominant theme of the day.
After breakfast, short off-road vehicle transfer to Capracotta for a guided visit of the Garden of Apennine Flora to learn about and recognize the wild herbs to be used in the kitchen. From Capracotta transfer to Agnone, the city of bells, and capital of Upper Molise. Guided tour of the historic center and the Marinelli Museum, the ancient craft shop of the Pontifical Foundry of Bells. Here you will be fascinated by observing the skill of the craftsmen and the manufacturing of the bells famous all over the world. Lunch in a typical restaurant in Agnone. Departure for Pietrabbondante and visit to the Samnite theater-temple. The small village is leaning against the "Morge", peaks of bare rock, near Mount Saraceno, covered by woods, which protect important megalithic walls. The archaeological area constitutes the most important sanctuary and political center of the Sanniti: the area of greatest interest consists of a rectangular space which presents, in the front, a theater and, in the rear and higher up, a large temple, in axis with the theater and laterally bordered by two large arcades. The whole complex is oriented east south / east in line with the point where the sun rises on the winter solstice. In this way from the temple it was possible to witness the birth of the sun on the left and to have it at noon on the right, respecting precise principles of the auspicious discipline. The day continues with a guided tour of the Pescolanciano Castle, a beautiful fortress dating back to the XII century that dominates the town and the Tratturo Castel di Sangro - Lucera from above. Before returning to Castel del Giudice, tasting with a visit to the “La Fucina” craft brewery; free dinner and overnight stay.
4th day: Castel del Giudice – Castel San Vincenzo – Scapoli – Fornelli – Castel del Giudice
The entrance to the Abruzzo mountains between History, Nature and Traditions
Breakfast and departure for Castel San Vincenzo. Sourrounded by a fascinating natural landscape on the slopes of the Mainarde, we will visit the imposing Benedictine abbey of San Vincenzo al Volturno and the homonymous lake. Continue to Scapoli for a visit to the ancient village. An appointment with the history and tradition of local crafts in the making of bagpipes. Soft adventure with a naturalistic excursion to the slopes of Monte Marrone. Through forgotten streets and in complete contact with nature, we enter the woods and rocky spiers that anticipate the Abruzzo-Lazio-Molise National Park. Packed lunch and continuation towards Fornelli to visit one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in Italy". Return to hotel, dinner and overnight.
5th day: Goodbye Molise
Breakfast and check-out from the hotel. Departure to your destination of origin or extension of your stay in Molise with our other proposals.
