DAY 01: Arrival in Fermo
Arrival in Fermo. Welcome Kit (typical products) and accomodation in B&B or typical farmhouses of the area. Rest of the day spent visiting the town of Fermo, Provincial Capital since few years which has always been a destination for lovers of culture and religion. Fermo is an important cultural-religious crossroads witnessed by the imposing cathedral which is visible in the whole town of Fermo, as if to delineate the iportance of the clergy over the people...The hand of God over Man. You will visit: Piazza del Popolo, the Priors Palace, Picture Gallery, Hall of the Globe and the Library, the Roman Cisterns, the Cathedral, the Diocesan Museum, the Science Museums of Villa Vitali and the Archeological Museum. Its architecture preserves a charming colonial charm: the Church of San Francesco and the Convent of San Lorenzo represent a very interesting example. Dinner. Overnight.
DAY 02: FERMO and SURROUNDINGS
Breakfast in the hotel. Leisure day to explore Fermo starting from the sea or from the mountain. We recommend visiting Torre di Palme close to the sea. Torre di Palme is a medieval village that entirely preserves the old houses constituing a high point very close to the sea which has a remarkable panoramic view of the sea coast, close to Marina Palmese and the A14 motorway that runs along...Return to the hotel. Overnight.
DAY 03 (Saturday): ARTS AND CRAFTS - MONTEGRANARO
Breakfast. Morning spent to explore the hills of Fermo, land of ingenious shoemakers. Transfer to Montegranaro for guided tours of Handcrafted Laboratories belonging to families since the last century. In Montegranaro between the end of the 1700 and the first decade of the 1800 started the production of the “chiochiera”, a type of a cloth slipper with the horse leather sole. It was the beginning of the fortune of Montegranaro. The initial manufacturing incredibly progressed . From the production of slippers they passed to the production of leather shoes and the artisanal production became proto-industrial, exponetially growing. In 1861 more tha 120.000 pair of shoes per year were produced, which became 300.000 in 1887, more than one million pairs in 1904 and so on. You will have the opportunity to meet and observe the famous cobblers during the processing of handmade shoe and then visit the most modern footwear outlet, evolution of antique crafts that have led to the creation of popular brands in the world (Guardiani, Fabi, Docksteps, Lattanzi, Lanciotti, Tods, etc). Dinner with typical products of Marche. Return to the hotel and overnight.
